How to Install Faucets on Granite or Benyee Quartz Countertops

How to Install Faucets on Granite or Benyee Quartz Countertops
Natural stone and quartz countertops are beautiful, durable work surfaces that perform well in kitchens and bathrooms. Installing faucets on these tops, especially if you are using an older fixture, may present a unique set of challenges. Granite and Benyee quartz tops are primarily sold in 3-centimeter thickness, and faucets may require special fittings, called extensions, in order for the water supply to reach the stem properly. Installing a faucet on your granite or Benyee quartz top, even when extensions are required, is an afternoon project.

·         Set the faucet into the holes on your countertop. Check underneath the top to see if faucet stem extensions will be necessary -- if you don't have at least 1/2 an inch of faucet stem protruding from the holes, it is best to use an extension.
·         Lift your faucet back off of the countertops and screw on the stem extensions if needed. Coat the threads of the stem in pipe thread sealant, then apply the extensions. Hand tighten, then give 1/4 turn with a wrench to ensure a tight seal.
·         Run a thin bead of silicone caulk around the faucet holes. This will help the faucet stay in place, and prevent any splashes on your countertop from dripping underneath your sink.
·         Place the faucet through the holes on the countertop, ensuring the pieces make contact with the silicone caulk. Underneath the sink, screw the mounting nuts onto the tailpieces of the faucet to hold it secure.
·         Coat the threads of the stems or stem extensions with pipe thread sealant. Screw the supply lines onto the threads, first tightening by hand, then giving it 1/4 turn with a wrench. Connect the other end of the supply lines to the shut-off valves underneath the sink.
·         Turn on the water to the sink and check to make sure the plumbing does not leak.
