What Color Countertop With Oak Cabinets

What Color Countertop With Oak Cabinets
Hard and heavy, and featuring a course grain, oak cabinetry is the go-to workhorse in many kitchens. Its durability and strength make a lasting impression, especially when matched with a countertop that complements the shade of oak used in your cabinets. Remodeled or new, the color spectrum found in oak cabinetry ranges from rich browns to cool neutrals.
Choose your kitchen's color scheme, determine the countertop fabrication you prefer, and then shop for the color that best suits your vision of the perfect kitchen.

Granite Selections

Neutral to Rich Brown

Oak cabinets that range from warm neutrals to rich browns are the perfect match for Baltic brown granite. Combining large and small puddles of deep brown with gold or sand, there's a shade within the slab that matches the oak cabinet. Bordeaux granite features a less complicated pattern and relies more on veining for its design.

Darker Veining

Look for a slab with black, brown, gold and red to add dimension to your kitchen and watch as it plays against the praline hues in the oak cabinetry.

Designing with Granite

·         Pick up on one of the lighter colors in the granite and install tumbled marble, set on a diagonal, for the backsplash
·         Or, run the granite backsplash up the wall for a continuous look.
·         Match flooring to the backsplash color.
·         A feature wall painted one of the minor granite colors adds interest to the kitchen.

Quartz Countertops

Quartz, a resin-based, man-made material that mixes ground quartz into the formula, may contain bits of glass or flecks of metal. Available in as many colors as granite, it's simple to match your oak cabinetry.
From ebony to white, quartz countertops resist scratching and are nonporous, eliminating the need for sealing.

Lighter Tones

  • If you want to lighten your kitchen, choose Bradshaw quartz, featuring specs of Sienna brown, mud-gray and slate.
·         Yorkshire picks up hues of pink, opening the door for a light-toned backsplash and flooring.

Solid Surface Countertops

Unlike quartz, which is about one-third resin, solid-surface countertops are 100 percent acrylic, polyester or a combination of the two.
A sleek, one-piece counter with no seams in a light cream or buttery gold brings a contemporary look to the kitchen. Saffron adds warmth with its gentle design, whilecobalt brings the coolness of deep blue into your kitchen decor.

Stainless Steel

The industrial look of a stainless steel countertop against oak cabinetry requires a deft transition from the counter to the cabinet, including the following tips and ideas:
·         Find hardware that is either polished silver or pewter.
·          Install a backsplash that's comprised of stainless steel tiles offset with those featuring pressed designs.
·         Lining the ceiling with tin tilin**g** and using a light gray, distressed hardwood or slate on the floor brings the elements together.
·         A large chalkboard completes the functional industrial look.
